Hey there! Welcome back to PureCoffeeCraft. I’m glad you found us, whether someone told you about the channel, you’re searching for better coffee, or you just happened to click on this post.
Today we’re kicking off something I’ve been excited about for a while: “Virtual Brewing Across America: A State-by-State Coffee Journey.”
Why Visit All 50 States for Coffee?
Look, I know what you might be thinking — isn’t good coffee just good coffee? Here’s the thing I’ve learned: every state has its own coffee scene, and they’re all different. The roasters in Colorado approach coffee differently than the ones in Louisiana. Local tastes matter. Local communities matter. And honestly, there’s great coffee happening in places you probably wouldn’t expect.
I’ve always been curious about the stories behind the coffee we drink. Who’s roasting it? What makes them choose certain beans? How do they decide on their roast profiles? The best way I can think of to answer these questions is to research or visit every state and see what’s happening.
This isn’t just about rating coffee (though we’ll definitely talk about what tastes good). It’s about meeting the people doing interesting work and understanding what makes each place unique.
Here’s What We’re Planning
I’m doing this project on two platforms:
YouTube Videos and Blog Posts
On the PureCoffeeCraft YouTube channel and here on the blog, we will discover:
- One episode per state where we virtually visit roasters, get the scoop from owners, and show you what their roasteries or shops are actually like
- Coffee tastings where I’ll walk you through what I’m tasting and how to pick out different flavors
- Conversations with roasters and cafe owners about their approach to coffee and what they’re trying to do
- Detailed profiles of the roasters we virtually or real time visit, including their background and what makes them different
- Context about each state’s coffee culture and what’s influencing local trends
- Practical info like brewing recommendations and where to buy the coffees we feature
- Additional recommendations for places we didn’t have time to visit in the videos
Occasional Deep Dives
Every so often, we’ll step back from the state-by-state format to look at bigger topics like:
- Sourcing practices — what terms like “direct trade” actually mean and why they matter
- Regional differences — whether there really are regional preferences for roast levels or brewing styles
- Home brewing tips based on what we learn from the pros
Come Along for the Ride
I’m hoping this becomes more than just me talking about coffee. If you know great roasters in your state, tell me about them. If you try something we recommend, let me know what you think. This works better as a conversation.
Hit subscribe on YouTube if you want to see the videos, and bookmark this blog for the deeper dives. We’re starting with Alabama — I’m curious to see what we’ll find there.
Thanks for joining me on this.
